Colorado Springs will be hosting the 14th Annual Greek Festival this weekend at the Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church, 2215 Paseo Road, from 11am -4pm on Saturday and Sunday and until 10pm Friday night.
This event is always a great way to express you inner Greekness. Take part in some traditional Greek dancing as the live bands play tunes from the Motherland. Make sure you drink your share of Ouzo too as this drink will get you in the mood for some truly fantastic Greek food, such as the sliced roasted leg of lamb (in a sandwich or on a platter), postichio (Greek lasagna), or the ever popular gyro sandwich topped with onions, tomatoes and tzatziki sauce. There will also be other favorite meals such as the chicken souvlaki, soutzoukakia (Greek meatballs) and a great Greek salad topped with feta cheese and a stuffed grape leaf (dolma).
No celebration is complete without Greek deserts such as the World known Greek bakalava.
This is an event that is meant to foster friendship, and a feeling of belonging with our Greek community, as well as offer a chance for those not familiar with the Greek culture to experience just what makes it so unique. Do not miss out on this opportunity, and make sure you bring all of your friends with you to share.
