The Wine Festival of Colorado Springs, the premier wine festival in the Front Range, will feature The Wines of France, March 7-9, at The Broadmoor, Garden of the Gods Club and the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center. All proceeds from this event benefit the FAC. For the first time in the 22-year-history of the Wine Festival, the Wines of France will be featured and a distinguished line-up of guest winemakers will be on hand, including Claude Gaudin of Vitigestion, Christian Beyer of Emile Beyer, Charles Lazzara of Volio Vino Imports representing Kermit Lynch, Nate Slingsby of Robert Kacher Selections and James Adams of The Sorting Table. Over the course of modern history, every wine producing country has compared itself to France. The standard bearer for the world’s wine industry, French wines are considered the benchmark in many styles, like Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne. “We think we are presenting the best wines ever offered at the Wine Festival,” said Jim Little of Coaltrain Wine & Spirits and member of the organizing committee. “And that’s saying a lot because we’ve served a lot of great wines over the years. Have you seen the movie "What Women Want" with Mel Gibson in it? In one of the scenes he puts together an add for women runners in which he says cool things like "the road doesn't care what you wear or if you put on an extra pound or two". Great ad and great advice. Southside Johnny's is the same when it comes to that advice. They don't care what you wear, if it is your first time running or if you want to even walk part of the way. All they care about is that you come, you try and you have a great time doing it.

Every Wednesday Southside Johnny's hosts their running club. Putting a little spin on their running club however, they incorporate a little of the fastest growing trend in working out, Crossfit. Take off from their location downtown and run through our city's best and most beautiful park, America the Beautiful park, then along Fountain Creek to the Crossfit SOCO's location. Push, pull and press through some exercises done in a high intensity manner designed to boost your metabolism for long term fat burning, then hit the road again and finish at SJ's for some awesome local brews, great grub and lots of laughs with your other running buddies.

Even with Winter fast approaching, you can not let your inner couch potato win. Beat that fool with a rubber hose and get on the streets once a week with your friends at Southside Johnny's and Crossfit SoCo. Having fun and exercising just doesn't get any easier.

Colorado Springs Zombie 5K!

The undead are everywhere! Beware, and run for your life!

Downtown Colorado Springs will be transformed into an apocalyptic neighborhood of dead attempting to devour the undead. Run for your life, a 5K race sponsored by Paul Mitchell the School, is a fund raiser raising money for the Andrew Gomez Dream Foundation. Entry into this race is any donation you can afford, and all donations will go to the Dream Foundation.

During this event you can determine if you would prefer to be one of the undead or one of the dead. Should you decide to be one of the dead then your show time would be around 8:30 am for make up and prep. The undead will then begin the 5K at 10am.

Throughout this run the undead will be navigating their way through obstacles, some man made and some natural, as well as avoiding the dead along the way. The dead will do everything they can to earn a meal of brains by grabbing the flags around the waists of the living. Runners will wear a belt around their waists, much like in flag football, and will attempt to cross the finish line with at least one flag still on the belt. Lose all of your flags and you have just become one of the dead. Brains will be your new obsession and you might have a little stiffness. Don’t despair though, as there will be health packs hidden throughout the course. Open one of the packs and get your flag back, then it’s off to the races again. Avoid the Zombies and you may just win you life. There will also be multiple paths to the finish line. Choose wisely as some may make your 5K upwards of 7K.

Join the fun this month on the 28^th from 8:30 to 12:45 and have the time of your life, or the last time of your life. Entry is just a donation and the obstacles, well, good luck.

For those of us that have watched Batman kicking butt throughout our lives, this is a special day. Batman comes to town and his partner, Robin, will be joining him on stage.

Join the caped crusader as he battles the villian; Penguin. Fighting their way through Gotham City with major fireworks and an impressive light show, Batman will battle his way through thugs and cruise the streets of Gotham in his all too impressive Bat Mobile.

As Batman is fighting crime, the underlying story will be one of the boy wonder, Robin. Searching for justice, Robin begins his trek towards becoming the sidekick to Batman, although much to the dismay of his benefactor, Bruce Wayne. The two superheroes will transform the World Arena into the streets of Gotham, to the depths of the Bat Cave and from the top of the Penguins Iceberg Lounge to the big top of Haly's Circus in what will become the most entertaining event of the year.

As an enhancement to the show, there will be a wall of screens to display all of the action on. Shaped in the shape of a bat, over 100ft of displays will make sure you do not miss any of the action.

Join our Military as we celebrate their service to our Country with the 'In Their Honor Air Show' at Ft. Carson this weekend.

Bring the entire family, your neighbors and your friends, to the show and watch the Air Force Academy's Wings of Blue parachute team jump in to the show as well as aircraft spanning the entire 20th century and some of todays newest aircraft, such as the F22 Raptor.

Watch an original 450 Stearman Bi-plane perform aerobatic tricks for you, all the while as Ashley Battles walks the wings. This is sure to be a truly great show. Ashley Battles is a world known wing walker and loves to perform for the audience her daring and often times scary show.

Bob Carlton will be here as well, launching his jet powered glider. This isn't any ordinary jet powered glider though. This is the worlds fastest jet powered glider. Watch as he takes off with jet propulsion then turns off the jet and performs his aeronautical ballet silently and effortlessly through the air above.

In addition to the air show, there will be far too many trucks on the ground for the little ones, and the big ones, to crawl in and around on. Construction trucks, emergency trucks, fire trucks, police cars, Military Hummvee's, and many other Military trucks that our troops are using today all around the world. There will even be a whole bunch of antique trucks at the show to learn how far we have advanced in the last 100 years, both on the ground and in the air.

The weather will be just beautiful this weekend with temps in the low 70's and the ever present Fall chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon however, the sky will be perfect for the show. Bring a folding chair and some treats and enjoy the entire weekend at the show.

Price for each day is: Adults $15, Seniors $12, Kids $5, Active Duty and dependents FREE. Many other packages are available such as the Chalet Family pack which allows two adults and up to 4 kids entry with a covered place to sit on the flight line and lunch for just $120.00. Don Barnhart, known as the worlds funniest hypnotist comedian, will be once again showcasing his funny here at the Loonees Comedy Club this November.

Coming directly from his very own show in Las Vegas, Don Barnhart will spend two weeks in Colorado Springs this November. The 1st to the 3rd and the 8th to the 10th will be his most funny PG rated shows, while on the 4th and the 11th he will be performing his "Adult Only" shows with a little bit more crude and graphic language being used.

Don Barnhart uses his mixture of comedy and improvisation to form one heck of a funny hypnosis show. Have you ever thought “I really want to roll down Manitou Springs in a coffin with 4 people pushing me just as fast as they can”? Yea? Then this Oct 27th is the day set aside just for you.

Manitou Springs will be celebrating, or memoralizing may be a better term, the death of Emma Crawford. Actually it is the run down Red Mountain that they will be memorializing. You see, Emma was a young lady who, after being diagnosed with tuberculosis, moved to Manitou Springs in the late 1800’s in hopes of being cured by the then famous mineral springs. Unfortunately for her, this did not really help and she died the next summer. Prior to her death she told her fiance that she would like to be buried on top of Red Mountain. He did this for her however, due to a couple of years of some really bad rains, her coffin was washed out and her remains ran down the mountain. Thus became the annual race.

Today to honor Emma, Manitou Springs hosts an annual race down the main street. Home made coffins and teams of five (4 runners and 1 “Emma”) will race down the street to get Emma to her new resting place. In addition, Miramont Castle will hold a wake for Emma the night prior from 6pm to 8pm. Swing by the castle and give your respects to Emma, as well as size up your competition.

This event has been showcased many times on the Travel Channel and Newsweek as well as being one of the top things to do for Halloween as rated by several of our National websites. Spectators from all over the Country come here to celebrate this, the 18th annual, race. Loaded with nothing but fun and great food, as well as drinks, there will be many teams taking part vying for the title of best emma.

Two coffins will race at a time, with the 4 fastest coffins racing in two separate heats to determine 1st to 3rd place winners. This is one of the fiercest competitions out there, and you can see why. Run a coffin down Manitou Ave.

A Parade of the coffins will take place prior to the race in order for the judges to pick the best coffin, runners and the best Emma. Be there to determine your favorite ones as well and then cheer them on to victory.

Entries to be a racer need to be received by Oct 19th, otherwise pack a chair and take a seat on the sideline. Parade starts around 11:30 on the 27th and the party will be happening all weekend. Enjoy the race, enjoy the shopping and enjoy Manitou Springs.

September 11, 2001 is the day that will forever live in our minds as the day America was attacked at home. 4 planes changed the way we live, think and act in just a matter of hours. Our loss of innocence was felt from New York to the fields of Afghanistan that morning, and I believe the World understood it had once again awoken the sleeping giant.

This year marks the 11th anniversary of the devastating attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and what would have been an attack on the White House had it not been for the bravery of those on United 93.

Not one person who was here that morning will forget what they felt as they watched the second plane fly into the North Tower. The feeling of helplessness for those stuck above the flames and the feelings of anger to those who would do such a thing. The amazing sense of pride we all felt when then President Bush made the statement that those who did this would soon hear us.

In less than a month our response was made with the deployment of Special Forces teams into Afghanistan to begin the hunt for those responsible. We called on our Countries best of the best to make our statement and they performed brilliantly. We remember the pictures of our service men, riding into battle on horseback, as they took the fight to those who would dare to wake us. It was quick and it was measured.

This year we will remember that day with a concert at the Colorado College- Shove Chapel, by Jurgen Essl, one of the foremost organists and composers in today's European musical scene, and Ms. Karen Bentley Pollack, a famed Violinist. Mr. Essl has performed regularly in Europe, in places such as Notre Dame, Madrid, Prague, Wien Poland, Stuttgart Germany and Tokyo, to name just a few.

To say that we will be honored to have such a distinguished performer here at our College Chapel, is an understatement. Admission is Free to the public so arrive early to get a good seat. Show time is at 7:30pm to 9pm.

As we remember this terrible yet unifying day in our history, take some time to say a silent prayer for those that were killed that day, those that lost their loved one that day, and those that have answered our Countries call to defend her through this day.

Is it Fall already? With the Balloon Classic just a couple of days away, I would have to say YES!!!

The 36th annual Balloon Classic is set to begin on the 31st with the pilots registering their balloons and the park transforming into the amazing sight that will wow fans and little ones all weekend.

Beginning on Saturday the 1st, early as early gets, pilots will start laying out their balloons for a mass ascension into the serene sky over Colorado Springs. Look up to the sky around 7:00 am and you will see all of the balloons gently and quietly lifting up. This is a truly amazing sight to see, and your kids especially will enjoy this.

Throughout the weekend Memorial Park will be filled with activities, starting at 0600 until around 10 am and again beginning at 5pm to about 10pm. Events such as live music, a parachute demonstration team dropping in and car club displays will fill the mornings and the evenings will be full of more music, lots of food vendors and of course the awesomeness of the balloon glow. If you have never seen hundreds of balloons light up at once then you have got to see this. For those of you who are really adventurous, Helicopter rides will be made available both mornings for you to get a look at our city as it wakes up.

Bring your family and enjoy the park, the balloons, the vendors and the shows all day as we say goodbye to another awesome Summer and hello to the beginning of Fall. Make sure you bring your cameras to capture the night glows and then just relax and enjoy.

08/25/2012 - 10th Annual Rocky Mountain Airshow

Times have been tough, economically, and even the Military is feeling it. This weekend may be the only time for you to see the new F-22 Raptor fighter jet perform some of what makes it the most feared fighter in the world.

This weekend in Broomfield, just outside Denver, is the annual Rocky Mountain Air Show. Performances will be held that will include everything from replicas of the first form of aircraft to the F-22, to the launch of the Stars and Stripes 17ft Rocket. Other performances will include: Rocky Mountain Renegades; Pyro the Jet Truck; Trojan Phlyers; and Kirby Chambliss, a five-time U.S. National Aerobatic Champion and two-time Red Bull Air Race World Champion; hang glider Dan Buchanan; and a morning ascent by the Rocky Mountain Balloon Fest. Hang glider Dan Buchanan will be performing a night time pyrotechnic show for the fans as well, on his hang glider.

Once you have seen enough of the air show, take a walk around the grounds and see hundreds of other aircraft from WW1, WW2 and Iraq and Afghanistan. Different aircraft from our civil aviation will be on display as well and of course pilots will be available for questions or to just tell their infamous bar stories to you.

This years Colorado State Fair is going to be one of the biggest and best talent packed events of its history.

Usual attractions, such as the giant carnival with rides ranging from children under 2 to "scare me I'm an adult" coasters and flyers, will be running all day and night. Party games like hit the balloon with a dart or ring toss, and of course carnival favorites like funnel cakes and cotton candy, will be made available to you as well all day, every day. But it's the special events, like the animal shows or the amazing live concerts that really make this week a special one.

Concerts with favorites such as; Merle Haggard; Steve Miller Band; The Mc Crae; Triple Nickel; The Anita McCoy dancers; and Kristi Hoopes are just a scratch of the talent being brought in for you all week. There is enough music being played all week for you that your Ipod will get jealous.

Maybe you prefer to see some true artists at work. If so then the Sand Artists is the event for you. Watch as they take little grains of sand and some ordinary water and make masterpieces of it all.

Maybe you would prefer to watch the livestock show and see some of our states best breeders on hand, ask them a couple of questions and get some advice on how to breed that amazing cow/sheep/chicken concoction you have always wanted to try. Don't let it out of the shed though as that may be a bad thing.

The State 4-H will be putting on their annual horse show for the fans and the popular yet dangerously exciting mounted cowboy shooting competition will be held this week as well.

They have everything from rabbits, to chickens, to sheep, to cows, for you to look at, touch and if you want, purchase. Maybe you are a burgeoning new chicken farmer and need to learn how to care for your new hobby, or you want to see what a true steer looks like up close and personal. This is the week for you to act out all of your childhood dreams.

Throughout the week there will be events, music, animals, rides, food, drinks, beer, monster trucks, tailgate parties, beer, chili championships, Girl Scouts, pet rocks, MMA demonstrations, Chocolate championship makings and of course, BEER.

Colorado Springs will be hosting the 14th Annual Greek Festival this weekend at the Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church, 2215 Paseo Road, from 11am -4pm on Saturday and Sunday and until 10pm Friday night.

This event is always a great way to express you inner Greekness. Take part in some traditional Greek dancing as the live bands play tunes from the Motherland. This Saturday, August 25th, from 8am to 2pm the Annual Lucky Dog Jog will be taking place. The route will start at the Lucky Dog Central, located at 4401 Mark Dabling Blvd and go to Goose Gossage Park.

Registration begins at 0730 with the Walk/Run starting at 8 am and continuing until 9am. The K9 Olympics will start at 8am and run until 11am and a raffle will begin at 1pm. In order to win however, you have to be present.

Throughout the day there will be a multitude of vendors as well as the chance to have your pet portraits taken. Food vendors will be on site as well so you don't have to worry about going hungry throughout the day.

Registration can be done either in person at the Lucky Dog Central, or by email by writing to: luckydogjog@gmail.com. The cost is just $20 prior to the day of the event and $25 the day of the event with 10% of all money raised going to the Waldo Canyon Fire Relief Effort.

The second weekend of the 2012 Rocky Mountain State Games begins Friday, and includes a special Opening Celebration at America The Beautiful Park that will wind up downtown with thousands on hand to celebrate the opening of the Olympic Games in London in the evening.

A special Rocky Mountain State Games Torch Relay will begin at the U.S. Olympic Training Center at 3:45 with remarks by Mayor Steve Bach, the lighting of the torch at the OTC, and a 2.56 mile relay, starting at 4:00, through the city to America The Beautiful Park that will arrive at roughly 4:45 and open the celebration.

In addition, fans and athletes at America The Beautiful Park will attempt to break a Guinness World Record! During the celebration festivities, an attempt will be made to break the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering in the world wearing swimming caps. The record to break is 2,049. Swim caps will be handed out and once everyone has one, a picture will be taken. Organizers hope that number will set the new Guinness record.

The Parade of Rocky Mountain State Games athletes, officials and fans will then move from America The Beautiful Park to downtown Colorado Springs and join the Olympic Downtown Celebration that starts at 4:00. This celebration is a city wide event that will feature a free concert with Country Music stars Rodney Atkins and Andy Gibson, interactive booths, food, a live NBC Universal feed of the 2012 London Olympic Opening Ceremony on a 15-by-27-foot HD screen, sport demonstrations, and much more, including a very special torch lighting ceremony around 9:40 p.m. featuring 1992 Olympic figure skating champion Kristi Yamaguchi and husband Bret Hedican (Olympic ice hockey).

The weekend will include competition in 25 sports across the city for some 4,500 athletes beginning at 8:00 a.m. with Tennis action at Cheyenne Mountain High. It concludes Sunday around 7:00 p.m. with BMX competition at the Cross Creek BMX Track in Fountain.

The Rocky Mountain State Games is a multi-sport festival for Colorado citizens of all ages and athletic abilities including physically disabled, visually impaired and Paralympic athletes. The Games are recognized by the National Congress of State Games, a member of the United States Olympic Committee.

Organized and managed by the Colorado Springs Sports Corporation, the 2012 RMSG includes competition in 34 sports. Competition is taking place along the Front Range with venues including the U.S. Olympic Training Center, U.S. Air Force Academy, Memorial Park, Fort Carson, Colorado College, City Auditorium, Cheyenne Mountain High and many others.

Athlete admission is free but spectator admission will be charged for the following sports: Gymnastics, Karate, Taekwondo, and Wrestling. Individual day passes can be purchased on-site, per day; Adults: $5, Youth(13-18): $3, Seniors(55+): $3. Youth 12 & under are admitted free.

For admittance onto the U.S. Air Force Academy, a driver’s license, vehicle registration and vehicle insurance must be shown, along with ID for all passengers.

The State Games concept was developed in New York in 1978 with the Empire State Games. Annually, more than 400,000 athletes compete in State Games nationwide. State Games feature various sports from the Olympic and Pan American Games programs as well as sports with regional popularity in each state.

Memorial Park is once again going to be the site for the Colorado Springs, Springs Spree. Taking place on June 16th and June 17th, the park will transform itself into a gathering place for all to enjoy free music and attractions. With three stages going all day there is a plethora of bands and a variety of music that will please everyone. This years big music guest is Bucky Covington, of American Idol fame.

Jake Loggins, The Black Rose Band, 6035, Talking Trees and the Whiskey Fingers are a few of the great bands that will be rocking the day away while you walk around and enjoy sno-cones, funnel cakes and hot dogs.

On Saturday the 16th starting at 0900 is the SOCO Car Show, displaying customs, classics, antiques and hot rods. These cars will be on display all day for viewing and owners will be available to answer questions should you want to find out what a real car used to look like. They don't make them like a true Cuda anymore.

For those of you who just can't wait until the weekend to ride the ferris wheel, the carnival will be starting on the 14th of June and run through the weekend. Take the kids there and buy an all you can ride wrist band for just $25. Bring in an empty Pepsi product can or bottle to the carnival box office and you get a $5 discount. Now that will make the day well worth it.

Families can enjoy the carnival with over 20 kid friendly rides, and the older kids will have many thrill seeker rides to wait in line for as well. Thursday and Friday night the carnival is open from 5pm to 10pm and Saturday and Sunday it will be open from 10am to 11pm.

The 2009 CFC Champions will be at the Spree this year conducting their 'Skills and Drills' clinic where you can learn how to play like the pros. Sign up for their 'Skills and Drills Challenges' going on on Sunday, or just enjoy watching the cheerleaders. Get your favorite players autograph as well and then help root them on to victory in their homecoming game at the Cheyenne Mountain High School Stadium on Saturday at 7pm.

Kids Zone will be full of great events for the younger kids and the hamster balls will be back as well, which is always fun. Do not miss this years ACW wrestling as well and see who will come out on top this year as the baddest wrestler in the Springs. My bet is it will probably be Brandon.

This years Springs Spree will be a knockout of an event with enough to do for everyone that you couldn't possibly get bored or not find an awesome band to listen to. Bring the entire family and have a great time.

Earth Day 2012 this year will be held on March 31st. Taking part this year is our very own Summit House on the top of Pikes Peak.

Saturday night, from 8:30 to 9:30, the Summit House will go completely dark as they participate in Earth Day 2012. What some of us might not have known is that this is a world wide event with other famous landmarks taking part as well, such as the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France as well as landmarks in England, Australia and South America. In addition, for the first time ever, the International Space Station will be taking part by watching over the Earth during this event.

Should you like to participate and show your support for Earth Day all you have to do is turn your lights off at 8:30 as well and then keep them off until 9:30. That's it. Simple. Of course if you still want to watch T.V. you most certainly can, just in the dark.

Would you like to get more involved in your community and in the security of your neighborhood? Most people would say yes and this is why the Colorado Springs Police Dept will be hosting an informal training session on how to conduct yourself as a neighborhood watch.

Topics will include: watch programs, when to call the police, what to do until the police arrive, and the role of the block captain.

This class could just save one of your neighbors some heartache as they may have to deal with the loss of possessions due to a break in. It most certainly will raise awareness throughout your neighborhood and could quite possibly reduce the risk of theft in your area.

You could become the neighbors hero by simply attending this class. Class will be held at 2741 E. Las Vegas St, downtown at the Springs Police Department starting at 1pm.

Why is the Mayor ready to have a party? Because he wants to take part in the Spirit of the Springs, and you can too. On February 17th the Mayor will be hosting the city's biggest party this year at the Summit Ballroom of the Antlers Hilton from 4pm to 6pm.
Attendees will have a chance to meet Spirit of the Springs Celebration Award winners; enjoy performances by Colorado Springs Conservatory, Childrens Chorale, and Sweet Adelines; participate in fun science demonstrations by Cool Science; or stage a "gold medal moment" with photo backdrops provided by the United States Olympic COmmittee, as well as many other activities.

At the Mayor's inauguration, he called upon us in the Springs to take part in our community and to get to know what it is that makes us so special to the rest of the world. He called for us to take part in what he called "the spirit of the springs".
This coming 17th, show your pride in our great city and your support for our community by coming in and meeting those who have helped to develop this spirit.

It is truly a great community and we all have taken part in making it this great by contributing in one way or another. Just by saying 'Hi' to a stranger once a day helps make us the friendliest and most caring community out there.

Spartans, Prepare for Glory!!!

So you think your a "Spartan" do you. You think you have the fortitude to push yourself to the maximum, and then go a little further, do you? IF you really think that, then this is the for you to step up and take your shield in hand. Come back with it, or on it.

The Spartan Race is normally a pretty tough time however, thanks to our very own 10th Special Forces Group (A) stationed at Ft. Carson, CO, this years race is going to truly test your fortitude. Based at Ft. Carson this race will be composed of approximately 4 miles of the toughest obstacles yet, and with the Special Forces input, you just may find that this is too tough for you. ( I can tell you from experience that the altitude and topography of Ft. Carson is not for the weak of mind.)

Normally the Spartan Sprint would be open to all and would include the season pass holders however this event is not available to those holding the season pass. Perhaps you could still register as a one time event.

It's that time of year again. New Years Eve is fast approaching in just a couple of days. How will you be spending your last day of 2011? For me, we will spend it at a friends house and celebrate the coming of another year. One more year of health, wealth and family.

One tradition of the Springs that we have always enjoyed is the fireworks that come off of the peak at midnight. Thanks to the AdAmAn (pronounced add a man) club, we have been able to enjoy fireworks for the last 89 years. Started in 1922, five good friends started a club that was intended to provide something new for New Years versus the same old boring parties. Imagine if you will, a frozen mountain over 14 thousand feet tall, and five guys with very little cold weather gear, climbing up the mountain in frigid cold temps with massive snow drifts all along the way. Once up there they lit a fire in the summit house and waited for the midnight hour by singing songs and eating traditional foods. At midnight they lit off their flares they had brought with them and some fireworks as well as made a giant fire of old railroad tracks for all of Colorado Springs to see. Of course this made for some concerned citizens but became the tradition that we now have today.

Take some time this Saturday night to look up to the Peak and watch the fireworks at midnight. Think back to the early 1900's and be thankful for what we have today. No matter how you celebrate your New Years Eve, make it one full of family, tradition, and good times.

Never drive drunk and always remember that your friends and family need you throughout 2012.

What could be better on New Years Eve than to have a Zumba glow and rave party!!

First off, the dress code for this party is nothing like your normal new years eve parties. Zumba attire is in affect. The more they shine and sparkle the better. Heels are not only discouraged at this party, they will be extremely uncomfortable while doing your zumba, and could possibly take someones eye out.

Multiple instructors will be on hand to give you a variety of dancing as well as their very own Zumba DJ. Dance the year away and bring in the new year with a sweat. Appetizers will be made available to keep your energy up and drinks will be provided as well.

Tickets are just $15 in advance, $25 at the door. Rock this party all night and enjoy the last of the year 2011.

This Tuesday, the 6th of Dec, is the 7th annual Colorado Gives Day. For a full 24 hours, the Community First Foundation will be collecting donations online for all of the Colorado non-Profit organizations in an effort to improve the quality of living through the generosity of it's people.

The goal of this day is to make donating to our local charities easier for those of us who are just not sure how to make sure our donations get to the local charity of our choice.

Community First Foundation helps our donors come together with our nonprofits to improve the quality of living for the Colorado area as well as fund community programs, support non-profit services. Have you ever responded to a Text message while you were driving? Or maybe inputting a new location in your GPS? If so then you know the dangers of distracted driving. Distracted driving has catastrophic effects for those who are unable to concentrate and then create what results in a near fatal and sometimes fatal accident. You knew it was coming, the Zombie Apocalypse, and yet you still did not prepare. Even the Center for Disease Control prepared a blog entry titled "Social Media: Preparedness 101: Zombie Apocalypse.” Well it is too late now my friend. Stay away from downtown CS this Saturday unless you want to be bitten and turned into an undead, flesh eating, mindless Zombie. Of course some of us know some of those people and so we will be there to support them anyway, and what the heck, have a TON of FUN!!! Get down to Tejon St early on the night of the 15th and get yourself all 'done up' as a Zombie, then go out and scare the bejezzus out of some normal citizens. Careful though, there just may be some Zombie hunters out there too.

This event is held in Memorial Park off Pikes Peak Avenue between Hancock Ave. and Union Blvd near the shores of Prospect Lake. Mass ascensions with over 100 balloons are scheduled for Saturday, Sunday and Monday mornings with a Balloon Glow scheduled for Saturday and Sunday evenings. If you haven't been to one of the cities Taco Bell restaurants lately you might be pleasantly surprised at how nice they have become. If you remember the days of the old discolored benches and chipped tables as you stopped in on a late night Friday or Saturday to get your after party tacos, then you remember how fitting it was to scoop your taco remnants off of the table and in to your waiting mouth. Not any more my friends. Today's Taco Bell restaurants have received a complete makeover and it has improved the feel of the restaurant immensely. Colors have been updated to reflect their modern and hip direction as well as many new menu items that make their restaurants feel more like a regular sit down restaurant. Take a look at their new stores improvements in their existing restaurants and stop by their new store at Union and Boulder. You will not recognize them but you will love them.

Seven Falls is located in a natural box canyon. It is the only waterfall in Colorado listed in the National Geographic list of International waterfalls. The one-mile drive winds along South Cheyenne Creek between steep cliffs covered with pines that at the narrowest are only 41 feet with interesting rock formations. The falls are best viewed from the Eagle’s Nest Observation platform – accessed by the mountain elevator located inside the mountain. One can also take the 224-step stairway.
